Clioquinol is an anti-amebic, antibacterial and anti-fungal agent with anti-eczematic and antipruritic properties. Clioquinol is administered orally, topically or intravaginally.

Characteristics
Iodochllerohy droxygen is the derivative of Clioquinol. It is of Synthetic origin and belongs to Idoquinoline. It belongs to Dermatological Products and Antifungal Agent, Topical pharmacological group.The Molecular Weight of Clioquinol is 305.50.
Contraindications
Clioquinol is contraindicated in conditions like Nail fungal infection,Infection of scalp.
Effects
The severe or irreversible adverse effects of Clioquinol, which give rise to further complications include Peripheral neuropathy, Optic neuropathy.Clioquinol produces potentially life-threatening effects which include severe neurotoxicity. which are responsible for the discontinuation of Clioquinol therapy.
Indications
Clioquinol is primarily indicated in conditions like Fungal infection, Ringworm, Skin infections, Tinea cruris, Tinea pedis, and can also be given in adjunctive therapy as an alternative drug of choice in Otitis externa.

Risks

Warnings
Clioquinol should be used with caution in patients with iodine iontolerence, medical history or any allergy. May irritate sensitized skin; topical application possess a potential risk of toxicity to infants and children. It is classified as pregnancy category C and should be used with caution during pregnancy only if clearly needed.
