Boric Acid is a mild acid used as an acidifying agent and buffer solution, Boric Acid is also a weak germicide (local anti-infective) used on intact skin, mucous membranes and cornea.

Characteristics
. It is of Synthetic origin. It belongs to Opthalmic Products and Antibacterial pharmacological group.The Molecular Weight of Boric Acid is 61.83. 1.90% solution of the drug is isotonic and Its pKa is 9.24.
Contraindications
Boric Acid is contraindicated in conditions like Pregnancy,Breast feeding.
Effects
The signs and symptoms that are produced after the acute overdosage of Boric Acid include Vomiting, Diarrhea, Convulsions, Shock, Circulatory collapse.The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Boric Acid are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Erythematous rash.
Indications
Boric Acid is primarily indicated in conditions like Ocular inflammation, Skin inflammation.
Interactions

Storage
Poultice, Paint, Eye Oint, Skin Oint Store at room temperature.
Warnings
There is a risk of developing systemic toxicity from the topical application of boric acid preparations, especially if the skin is broken.
