Tretinoin

Tretinoin is a vitamin A derivative. When applied topically, effective for the treatment of acne and to reudce photo-damage due to excessive exposure to sun light. Tretinoin is also used in conjuction with chemotherapy in the treatment of certain leukemias.

Characteristics
Tretinoin also known as Retinoic Acid. . It is of Synthetic origin and belongs to Tetraenoic Acid. It belongs to Dermatological Products and Retinoic Acid Derivative pharmacological group.The Molecular Weight of Tretinoin is 300.40.

Effects
The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Tretinoin are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Erythema, Irritation, Warmth feeling.
Indications
Tretinoin is primarily indicated in conditions like Acne vulgaris, Promyelocytic leukemia, and can also be given in adjunctive therapy as an alternative drug of choice in Naevus comedonicus, Pseudofolliculitis, Senile comedones, Trichostasis spinulosa.

Interfrence

Drug should not be given to Neonates.If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.
Storage
Caps Store at room temperature. Protect from Sunlight. Cream Store at room temperature, Below 30°C. Do not Freeze. Protect from Sunlight. Gel, Liq Store at room temperature, Below 30°C. Protect from Sunlight, Moisture and Heat.
Warnings
Tretinoin should be used with caution in patients with any illness or allergy, especially to any drug including parabens preservatives. It is recommended that persons using this medication not donate blood for at least three years after stopping therapy. It should not be used during pregnancy or lactation. Photosensitization may occur, caution patients to take protective measures, i.e.wearing protective clotting or sunscreen, before exposure to UV or sunlight. Use other acne preparation (if it is use topically) with caution while using tretinoin.
