Characteristics
. It is of Synthetic origin and belongs to Phenothiazine. It belongs to H1-antagonist pharmacological group on the basis of mechanism of action. The Molecular Weight of Mequitazine is 322.50. Its pKa is 8.66.
Contraindications
Mequitazine is contraindicated in conditions like Myasthenia gravis,Paralytic ileus,Close-angle glaucoma,Pyloric stenosis,Prostate adenoma,Alcohol abuse,Hypersensitivity to any component of product.
Effects
The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Mequitazine are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Dizziness, Drowsiness, Depression, dizziness.
Indications
Mequitazine is primarily indicated in conditions like Allergy, Hay fever, Insect bites, Pruritus, Rhinitis, Urticaria, and can also be given in adjunctive therapy as an alternative drug of choice in Conjuctivitis.

Storage
Warnings
Patients should observed caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, because may cause drowsiness. Mequitazine should be used with caution in patients with liver impairment, dose should be reduced in patients with renal impairment. Avoid use in young children and use with caution in elderly patients. Topical preparation containing antihistamines should not be used on broken and eczematous skin.
