Fenbufen

Fenbufen is NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug). Fenbufen is used to relieve pain and to reduce inflammation or swelling and fever. Fenbufen is used to treat pain, swelling and stiffness associated with arthritis.

Characteristics
. It is of Synthetic origin and belongs to Oxobutyric Acid. It belongs to Cyclo-oxygenase inhibitor pharmacological group on the basis of mechanism of action and also classified in Analgesics and Anti-inflammatory Agents pharmacological group.The Molecular Weight of Fenbufen is 254.30. Its pKa is 5.7.
Contraindications
Fenbufen is contraindicated in conditions like Peptic ulcer,Pregnancy,Breast feeding,Resistant dermatophyte infections of skin or finger nails (not toe nails).
Effects
The severe or irreversible adverse effects of Fenbufen, which give rise to further complications include Stevens johnson syndrome, Stevens johnson syndrome, Erythema multiforme, Erythema multiforme, upper respiratory tract infection, Upper respiratory tract infection, Nasophyringitis.Fenbufen produces potentially life-threatening effects which include GI bleeding. which are responsible for the discontinuation of Fenbufen therapy.The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Fenbufen are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Fever, Skin rashes, Rashes, GI upset, Fluid retention, Neurological effects, Decrease in leucocytes, Decrease in hemoglobin, Decrease in hematocrit, Increase in prothrombin time, Increase in eosinophils, Anuria, Oliguria, Azotemia, Skin rashes, athralgia.
Indications
Fenbufen is primarily indicated in conditions like Ankylosing spondylitis, Gout, Musculoskeletal disorders, Osteoarthritis, Pain, Rheumatoid arthritis, and can also be given in adjunctive therapy as an alternative drug of choice in Dental surgery, Nausea and vomiting (palliative care).

Drug should not be given to Paediatrics, Geriatrics, and Neonates.If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.

Warnings
In patients with renal, cardiac, or hepatic impairment caution is required since NSAIDs may impair renal function; the dose should be kept as low as possible and renal function should be monitored. Should be used with caution in patients with peptic or intertinal ulceration.
