Characteristics
Factor VIII also known as Anti-haemophilic Factor. . It is of Natural origin and belongs to Glycoprotein. It belongs to Blood Coagulation pharmacological group on the basis of mechanism of action and also classified in Hematological Agents pharmacological group.The Molecular Weight of Factor VIII is 330000.00. It is weakly acidic drug, 240.00% solution of the drug is isotonic and Its pKa is 0.
Contraindications
Factor VIII is contraindicated in conditions like Hypersensitivity to any component of product.
Effects
The severe or irreversible adverse effects of Factor VIII, which give rise to further complications include Hepatitis, Paraesthexia.Factor VIII produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Anaphylaxis, Fluminating hepatitis, AIDS. which are responsible for the discontinuation of Factor VIII therapy.The signs and symptoms that are produced after the acute overdosage of Factor VIII include Paradoxical hemorrhage, Coombs positive hemolytic anemia.The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Factor VIII are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Headache, Drowsiness, Palpitation, Urticaria, Fulness in head, Warm flush, GI disturbance, Chills fever, Dyspnoea.
Indications
'Factor VIII is primarily indicated in conditions like Haemophilia, Haemorrhage, Von willebrand''s disease, and can also be given in adjunctive therapy as an alternative drug of choice in Willebrand''s disease.'

Risks
Drug should not be given to Pregnant Mothers, patients suffering from Liver Malfunction, and Neonates.If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.

Warnings
It should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. It should be used with cauiton in patients with any pre-existing diseases or any allergies.Before and during injection check heart rate.The dose or rate of infusion may need to be changed if heart rate is too fast. Monitor for development of factor VIII inhibitors, Intravascular haemolysis after large or frequently repeated doses in patients with blood groups A, B or AB
