Edrophonium (Cl) is anticholinesterase agent and a quaternary amine. Edrophonium (Cl) is more rapidly absorbed and has a short duration of action than neostigmin. Edrophonium (Cl) is used in the diagnosis of myasthenia gravis.

Edrophonium (Cl) also known as Edrophonium. . It is of Synthetic origin and belongs to Alkylammonium Salt. Contraindications
Edrophonium (Cl) is contraindicated in conditions like Intestinal obstruction,Urinary obstruction.
Effects
The severe or irreversible adverse effects of Edrophonium (Cl), which give rise to further complications include Cardiac arrhythmias, AV-block, Sinus bradycardia, Increased airway resistance.Edrophonium (Cl) produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Neuromuscular blockage, Cardiac Arrest. which are responsible for the discontinuation of Edrophonium (Cl) therapy.The signs and symptoms that are produced after the acute overdosage of Edrophonium (Cl) include Bradycardia, Hypotension, Bronchospasm, Cardiac arrhythmias, Respiratory failure, GI hypermotility, Visual distrubances, Perspiration.The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Edrophonium (Cl) are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Abdominal cramps, Blurred vision, Allergic reactions, Salivation, Lacrimation, Prostatism, Leg cramps, Perioral fasciculation, Periocular fasciculation, Lingual fasciculation.
Indications
Edrophonium (Cl) is primarily indicated in conditions like Androgen deficiency and male infertility, Cardiac arrhythmia, Diagnosis of dual block due to suxamethonium, Diagnosis of myasthenia gravis, Influenza A, Myasthenia gravis diagnosis, Neuromuscular blockade reversal, Succinylcholine-induced dual block diagnosis, Treatment of endometriosis.

Warnings
Edrophonium should be used with caution in patients with asthma, seizure disorder, epilepsy, heart disease such as hypertension, bradycardia, recent myocardial infraction, in thyroid disorders, intestinal disorders, peptic ulcers, urinary problems or if have any allergy especially to bromides. Large dose by mouth should be avoided in condition where there may be increase absorption from the gastrointestinal tract. It is classified as pregnancy category C and should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy.
