Carglumic Acid

Carglumic Acid or N-carbamoyl L-Glutamic Acid is an aminoacid and is an structural analogue of N-Acetylglutamate that acts by activating carbamoyl Phosphate synthetase enzyme which catalyzes the formation of Arginine and Urea from ammonia and thereby lowers blood ammonia level.Carglumic acid is indicated for the treatment of hyperammonemia and hyperglutamenemia due to N-Acetylglutamate synthetase (NAGS) deficiency

Route: oral
Instructions: Each 200 mg should be dispersed in 2.5 ml of water and taken immediately. It shoild be taken before meal. It should not be swallowed whole or crushed

Effects
Carglumic Acid produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Anemia, Infection. which are responsible for the discontinuation of Carglumic Acid therapy.The signs and symptoms that are produced after the acute overdosage of Carglumic Acid include Tachycardia, Sweating, Restlessness, Increased bronchial secretion.The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Carglumic Acid are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Headache, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Abdominal pain, Pyrexia, Ear disorders, Nasopharyngitis, Tonsilitis.
Indications
Carglumic Acid is primarily indicated in conditions like Hyperammonemia.
