Molindone

Molindone is an antipsychotic medication. It works by changing the actions of chemicals in the brain.Molindone is used to treat the symptoms of psychotic conditions, including hallucinations, delusions, and confusion.

Contraindications

Effects
The severe or irreversible adverse effects of Molindone, which give rise to further complications include Convulsions, Seizures, Tremors, Extrapyramidal side effects.Molindone produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome, Neuroleptic malignant syndrome. which are responsible for the discontinuation of Molindone therapy.The signs and symptoms that are produced after the acute overdosage of Molindone include Coma, Agitation, Slurred speech.The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Molindone are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Drowsiness, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Restlessness, Constipation, Dry mouth, Sedation, Hypotension, Weight gain, Weight loss, Dry mouth, Hypotension.

Molindone is primarily indicated in conditions like Delusional disorder, Hallucination, Schizophrenia.

Warnings
'Molindone may be used with caution in people with the following conditions: 1.epilepsy 2.asthma - the risk of sensitivity to sulfites is higher than normal in people with asthma 3.cardiovascular disease 4.a history of liver, thyroid or kidney problems 5.brain tumor or intestinal blockage-Molindone can interfere with the diagnosis and monitoring of these conditions. 6.difficulty urinating, enlarged prostate, glaucoma, liver disease, Parkinson''s disease - taking Molindone may make these conditions worse.'
