Meclofenamate

Meclofenamate is a nonsteroidal agent which has demonstrated anti-inflammatory used to treat arthritis, analgesic, and antipyretic activity in laboratory animals.

Characteristics
Meclofenamate also known as Anthranilic acid. Meclofenamate Sodium is the derivative of Meclofenamate. It is of Synthetic origin. . The Molecular Weight of Meclofenamate is 336.10.
Contraindications
Meclofenamate is contraindicated in conditions like Bronchospasm,Urticaria,Allergic rhinitis,Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Effects
Meclofenamate produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Renal failure. which are responsible for the discontinuation of Meclofenamate therapy.The signs and symptoms that are produced after the acute overdosage of Meclofenamate include Edema, Anorexia, Pruritus, Flatulence, Peptic ulcer, Pyrosis.The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Meclofenamate are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Nausea, Diarrhea, Constipation, Abdominal pain, Rashes, Urticaria.
Indications
Meclofenamate is primarily indicated in conditions like Mild to moderate pain, Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis, and can also be given in adjunctive therapy as an alternative drug of choice in Primary dysmenorrhea.

Risks

Warnings
Patients receiving nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents, such as meclofenamate , should be evaluated periodically to insure that the drug is still necessary and well tolerated There is a risk of GI Ulceration, Bleeding and Perforation with Meclofenamate so precautions should be considered. Before taking meclofenamate , tell your doctor if you have a history of high blood pressure, blood disorders, heart disease, gastrointestinal problems, alcoholism, liver disease, or kidney disease. While taking meclofenamate , it is very important for your doctor to monitor your progress through regular visits. Do not take meclofenamate on an empty stomach.
