Isoleucine

Isoleucine is a branched-chain amino acid, an essential constituent of the diet. Isoleucine is included in preparations for certain liver disorders, also is used as a dietry suppliment.


Adult Dose
Dose: 650 to 700 mg
Single Dose: 680 (675)
Frequency: 24 hourly
Route: PO
Instructions: If one is taking a supplement of isoleucine, he should take it in balance with the other two branched-chain-amino-acids leucine and valine in the formula of 2 mg of leucine and valine for each 1 mg of isoleucine.

Contraindications
Isoleucine is contraindicated in conditions like Electrolyte disorder,Hyperammonemia,Hypersensitivity to any component of product.

The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Isoleucine are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Electrolyte imbalance.
Indications
Isoleucine is primarily indicated in conditions like Liver diseases, Premedication before surgery.

Risks

Warnings
It is not recommended to take a single amino acid for an extended period of time without supplementing with other amino acids as well. Long-term isolated amino acid supplementation can create an imbalance in the body. Solutions containing acetate ion should be used with great care in patients with metabolic or respiratory alkalosis.
