Ibandronic Acid

Ibandronic acid is a bisphosphonate, a potent inhibitor of bone resorption. Ibandronic acid is used orally or parenterally in hypercalcaemia of malignancy, and also for the reduction of bone demage in bone metastases in breast cancer.


Adult Dose
Dose: 100 to 150 mg
Single Dose: 120 (125)
Frequency: As recommended.
Route: PO
Instructions: You should take the tablet with plenty of water - never milk. You need to take it on an empty stomach, so take it at 30 minutes before you have a meal or drink, or an hour afterwards. First thing in the morning before breakfast is often a good time, as you should stay sitting or standing afterwards for an hour.

Contraindications

Effects
The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Ibandronic Acid are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Fever, Abdominal pain, Chills, Dyspepsia, Bone pain, Influenza like syndrome, Dysphagia, Hypersensitivity reactions, Bronchospasm, Angioedema, Muscle pain, Ulceration, Oesophagitis, dyspepsia.
Indications
Ibandronic Acid is primarily indicated in conditions like Hypercalcaemia due to malignancy, Hypercalcaemia of malignancy.
