Colfosceril Palmitate

Colfosceril Palmitate is a phospholipid which forms an important constituent of endogenous pulmonary surfactant compounds.


Adult Dose
Dose: 5 ml/kg
Single Dose: 5 (5)
Frequency: As recommended.
Route: IV
Instructions: Prophylactic treatment: 1st dose should be given after birth and 2nd and 3rd dose is given 12 and 24 hours later to infants.

Contraindications
Colfosceril Palmitate is contraindicated in conditions like Hypersensitivity to any component of product.
Effects
The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Colfosceril Palmitate are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Pulmonary hemorrhage, Obstruction of the endotracheal tube by mucous secretions.
Indications
Colfosceril Palmitate is primarily indicated in conditions like Respiratory distress syndrome.

Risks

Continuous monitoring is required to avoid hyperoxaemia (due to rapid improvement in arterial oxygen concentration)
