Sodium Benzoate has bacteristatic and fungistatic activity. Sodium Benzoate has been used as a part of the treatment of hyperammonemia that occurs in inborn errors of the urea cycle. Sodium Benzoate is a common ingredient of cough preparations. Sodium Benzoate is also used as a preservative in pharmaceutical preparations.

Indications

Sodium Benzoate is primarily indicated in conditions like Disseminated intravascular coagulation (dic).
