Characteristics
Penbutolol (Sulphate) is the derivative of Penbutolol. It is of Synthetic origin. . The Molecular Weight of Penbutolol is 680.90. Its pKa is 9.3.
Contraindications
Penbutolol is contraindicated in conditions like Bronchospasm,Cardiac failure,Haemorrhage,Heart block,Bradycardia,Hypersensitivity,Low cardiac output.
Effects
The severe or irreversible adverse effects of Penbutolol, which give rise to further complications include Depression, Bleeding, Chest pain.Penbutolol produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Bradycardia, Hypoglycemia, Hypotension, Bronchospasm, Cardiogenic shock. which are responsible for the discontinuation of Penbutolol therapy.The signs and symptoms that are produced after the acute overdosage of Penbutolol include Bradycardia, Hypotension, Convulsions, Cardiogenic shock, Slow heartbeat.The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Penbutolol are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Dizziness, Tiredness, Headache, Fatigue, Nausea, Diarrhea, Sweating, Cough.
Indications
Penbutolol is primarily indicated in conditions like Hypertension, and can also be given in adjunctive therapy as an alternative drug of choice in Angina.
Interactions

If necessary to take this combination so closely monitor the patient for increased serum level of theophylline.Verapamil (HCl) These interactions are sometimes beneficial and sometimes may pose threats to life. Always consult your physician for the change of dose regimen or an alternative drug of choice that may strictly be required.
Interfrence
Risks
Drug should not be given to Paediatrics, Pregnant Mothers, and Neonates.If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.
Storage
Tab Store in a well closed container, at room temperature. Protect from Sunlight, Moisture and Heat.
Warnings
It should be used with caution in diabetic patients and patients with kidney or liver disease.Donot drive because Penbutolol may cause dizziness. Penbutolol tends to decrease blood circulation in skin,fingers and toes.Dress warmly during cold weather. Stay out of direct sunlight.Cautions should be taken in allergic patients.
