Noscapine

Noscapine is opium alkaloid , present in amount ranging from 3 to 10 %. Noscapine is used as an antitussive agent to suppresses the cough. Noscapine is administered orally.

Contraindications
Noscapine is contraindicated in conditions like Pregnancy,Hypersensitivity to the drug.

The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Noscapine are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Drowsiness, Nausea.
Indications
Noscapine is primarily indicated in conditions like Asthma, Cough, Emphysema.
