Tenoxicam is NSAID (non-steroidal antinflammatory drug). It relieves pain and reduces fever and inflammation. Tenoxicam is used in the treatment of arthritis. The long duration of drug allows once-daily dosing

Characteristics
belongs to Thiazine Carboxomide. It belongs to Cyclo-oxygenase inhibitor pharmacological group on the basis of mechanism of action and also classified in Analgesics and Anti-inflammatory Agents pharmacological group.The Molecular Weight of Tenoxicam is 337.40.
Contraindications
Tenoxicam is contraindicated in conditions like Anesthesia,GI ulceration,GI hemorrhage.
Effects
The severe or irreversible adverse effects of Tenoxicam, which give rise to further complications include Depression, Nervousness.The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Tenoxicam are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Dizziness, Tiredness, Headache, Drowsiness, Diarrhea, Abdominal pain, Indigestion, Numbness of hands & lips.
Indications
Tenoxicam is primarily indicated in conditions like Acute gout attack, Acute spasm and spasm in diagnostic procedures, Ankylosing spondylitis, Bursitis, Nausea and vomiting (palliative care), Osteoarthritis, Periarthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Sprains, Strains, Tendinitis.

Risks
Drug should not be given to Paediatrics, and Pregnant Mothers.If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.

Warnings
Patients showing signs of gastrointestinal disease during treatment with Tenoxicam, should be carefully monitored and if peptic ulceration or gastrointestinal bleeding occurs, the drug should be withdrawn immediately.Patients with uncontrolled hypertension, congestive heart failure, established ischaemic heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, and/or cerebrovascular disease should only be treated with Tenoxicam after careful consideration. Similar consideration should be made before initiating longer-term treatment of patients with risk factors for cardiovascular disease.Dizziness, drowsiness, visual disturbances or headaches are possible undesirable effects after taking NSAIDs, if affected, patients should not drive or operate machinery.
