Typhoid Vaccine is a freeze dried preparation of live Salmonella typhi strain grown in a suitable medium. Typhoid Vaccine is indicated for active immunisation to prevent typhoid fever in persons who are at risk.


Adult Dose
Dose: 25 ug
Single Dose: 25 (25)
Frequency: As recommended.
Route: IM
Instructions: (or 0.5ml).Once or As Required.
Neonatal
Paedriatic
Dose: 0.25 ml
Single Dose: 0.25 (0.25)
Frequency: As recommended.
Route: Intra Muscular
Instructions: Per month for 2 Months
Characteristics
. It is of Semi Synthetic origin. It belongs to Toxoids and Vaccines pharmacological group.
Contraindications
Typhoid Vaccine is contraindicated in conditions like Hypersensitivity.
Effects
The severe or irreversible adverse effects of Typhoid Vaccine, which give rise to further complications include Anaphylactoid reactions.The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Typhoid Vaccine are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Headache, Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Fever, Myalgia, Abdominal pain, Erythema, Pain, Redness, Itching, Malaise, SwellingX, General aches.
Indications
Typhoid Vaccine is primarily indicated in conditions like Typhoid prophylaxis.
Interactions
Typhoid Vaccine is known to interact with other drugs, the details of drug interactions is as follows:DrugDetailsSeverityOnsetManagementCeftibutenPlague VaccineConcurrent use may result in accentuated side effects.Rho (D) Immune Globulin Antibodies found in immune globulins may interfere with the immune response to live vaccines.ModerateVaricella vaccine should not be given for at least 5 months after, and other live vaccines should not be given for at least 3 months after administration of immune globulin. These interactions are sometimes beneficial and sometimes may pose threats to life. Always consult your physician for the change of dose regimen or an alternative drug of choice that may strictly be required.
Interfrence
Risks
Drug should not be given to Neonates.If prescribing authority justifies the benefits of the drug against the possible damages he/she should reevaluate them and consult the reference material and previous studies.
Storage
Inj Store in refrigerator. Do not Freeze. Protect from Sunlight.
Warnings
Vaccine should be used with caution in patients with any illness, infection, allergy or if patients receiving radiation therapy. It should be used during pregnancy or lactation only if clearly needed. The vaccine should be postponed in subjects suffering from acute fibrile illness. The vaccine protects against typhoid fever caused by Salmonella typhi. Protection is not conferred against parathyroid fever or illness caused by non-invasive Salmonellae. Vaccine has not been evaluated in children under 2 years of age. Nevertheless, it is known that the children under this age may show a sub-optimal response to polysaccharide antigen vaccines. The decision to use the vaccine in this age group should be based upon the risk of exposure to disease. Appropriate medical treatment and supervision should always be readily available in case of a rare anaphylactic reactions following the administration of the vaccine.Typhoid vaccine under no circumtances be administered intravenously.
